13 - Two Nutrients for diabetics

Updated: Feb 9, 2023

Dr. Eric Berg is a chiropractor and suggests these two vitamins for diabetics. The first is benfotiamine (man made vitamin B) and the second is alpha lipoic acid. Dr. Berg recommends them but I do not take the dosage he recommends (B1 4x per day & 3x per day of the A-acid), I go by the manufacturers recommends of 1x per day of each and it seems to be helping.

Here is what they claim as the benefits:

Benfotiamine:

  • Non-GMO, Gluten Free; No Wheat, Yeast, Milk, Lactose, Soy, Artificial Color, Artificial Flavor

  • Benfotiamine can help maintain blood glucose levels already within a normal range*

  • Our ultra Benfotiamine supplement contains 300mg per serving

  • Benfotiamine is a version of the bioavailable nutrient Thiamine found naturally within the body

  • Considered a member of the B-1 family, it's a fat-soluble vitamin

What is Benfotiamine?

Benfotiamine is a bioavailable form of the essential nutrient Vitamin B-1 (Thiamin). This substance is a fat-soluble vitamin found in many foods, mainly legumes and grain products. For those who are deficient, a supplement can provide additional support to a healthy diet.
