This is an area to pass along various things that I learned.
SSI (Social Security Insurance)
Started 6 months post (May 2018) and was granted coverage in September of 2018. The biggest part of this is write down who you speak with during treatment because you never know when you might need them again. Also, there is a 6 month waiting period before you can pursue benefits. I did it myself but you can also hire a lawyer.
UNUM ( A disability insurance company)
Didn’t realize that I had 2 policies that were available to me until June 2019. I was granted both policies in full in November 2019 and again, keep good records to aid in the process.
Walking
As soon as I got home in December 2017 I started walking. I walked 1/4 mile per day with a walker to start. I now walk a total of 3 miles per day with 2 miles to open my day with followed up by a 1 mile walk. It is important to do something no matter how insignificant it seems at the time.
Bicycles
I try to get out on a bike once in a while but this is still very hard for me.
Exercise Bike
I use an exercise bike to help with my overall fitness.
Weight Machine
I use a weight machine to build strength. It is important to note that along with so many things, it simply takes time and persistence. Eventually the results will come a little at a time.
GoFit Resistance Bands
$20 at Target and I use for workouts (Red is light, Blue is medium & Green is heavy).
Light Weights
Dumb bells that I use for workouts.
Swimming
I do laps back and forth during my off months of the summer (June - August).
I hope in some small way this blog has been a help to you.
